Rod began his career in Sound and Lighting at the tender age of 14 when he entered and won a London DJ competition. On leaving school Rod was awarded an apprenticeship with a leading Berkshire Television and Hi-fi Company, this appointment allowed him to attend college to obtain his City & Guilds certificate in electronics and still be able to DJ.

Rod was head hunted by several companies and was eventually cornered by the Orange group of companies based in Reading. As sales manager of this discotheque equipment based company the task was set to turn a small concern into one of the Countries largest retailers.

Mission accomplished. In just 5 years Rod spearheaded the company to a 3 million pound annual turnover, twice Rod walked onto stage to collect the Industries most sort after award, the PLASA "Retailer of the Year".

In 1996 it was time to move, Graham Preston and Mark Payne (good friends over a number of years) were steadily emerging as major players in the Live Production field with their company Sound Foundation. The ultimate team had come together, two of the most respected sound and technical engineers and the manufacturer’s choice of salesman.


With an ever increasing demand for Rod’s DJ talents, the decision was taken in 1999 to launch Sound Foundation Entertainment’s with
Rod as the Company’s sole owner.

As well as manning those busy sales lines during the day, Rod still keeps a tight reign on his Corporate entertainment contacts.
 

Over the years thousands of delighted people have danced the night away at various society balls and corporate events with Rod in total control.  Many of his clients are from the world of Showbiz and other celebrity circles.
